Ukulele festivals do something almost no other instrument's festival circuit does: they teach for free and they expect the audience to bring instruments. That single convention, established in Honolulu and copied everywhere since, is why the modern ukulele revival spread through amateurs rather than through professionals — the festivals were never showcases with an audience, they were mass lessons with a stage attached.
If you have never been to one, the practical consequence is this: you will get more from an afternoon of workshops than from months of video lessons, because the corrections are physical and immediate. Someone will move your wrist two centimetres and a strum you have fought for weeks will suddenly work.

The granddaddy of all ukulele festivals, founded by Roy Sakuma. Free and open to all, it draws thousands to Waikiki for a weekend of performances by world-class players and keiki (children) ensembles.

Japan's enormous ukulele community gathers for performances, workshops, and a massive ukulele marketplace. Japan has been a second home for Hawaiian musicians since 1929.

Bring your own instrument, a clip-on tuner, and a strap if you use one — you will be standing far longer than you expect. Workshops are usually streamed by level, and the single most common mistake is choosing the intermediate room out of optimism. The beginner rooms at large festivals are taught by the best teachers on the bill precisely because that is where the instrument gains players.

Take the one you play best, but plan for heat and humidity swings, keep it in a case between sessions, and never leave it in a car. If your only instrument is a solid-top in a hard case, that is fine; if you own a laminate travel ukulele, festivals are what it exists for.
